New Subject Headings in the Social Sciences

Part of the charge of the Subject and Bibliographic Access Committee is to provide a forum for exchange of information, and a clearinghouse for issues and concerns related to bibliographic access (including, but not restricted to, subject headings, call numbers, and name authorities) to materials in anthropology, sociology, criminology and criminal justice, and related fields.

From 2007 to 2016, the Subject and Bibliographic Access Committee looked at the weekly lists of new subject headings in the Library of Congress Subject Headings, and sent out periodic lists of all of those that are pertinent to the social sciences. The committee decided to discontinue further updates to these lists, but the older lists are still very useful for catalogers of social science works. If you have any comments, suggestions, or questions about these informational postings, please send them to the Subject and Bibliographic Access Committee.
